Topic: Animating a sine curve

Dear Ivan,

Could you kindly tell me how to animate a sine curve to model a transverse wavein Graph?

I can move a sine curve horizontally, but can't get the wave effect.

Something like what is shown in the animation is my goal - without the circle, just the animated wave.

Please drop a line.

Best regards,

Hemantha

Re: Animating a sine curve

Hit Ctrl+F to create

f(x) = sin(x-a)
a = 1

Then insert a function f(x) from zero to blank, and make the beginning a dot.

Then you will need to go to Calc -> Animate

Animate a, from 0 to 10 with a scale of .1 with 20 frames per second, and you should get something you're looking for.

Check out the attached file.

Re: Animating a sine curve

marcorainaldi,

I don't know how to thank for this; I am so grateful for the tip you offered and the effort you made in producing a wonderful .gif.

I have been trying to do this for over two years and finally got it.

Thank you very much.
