Is there anyway of saving default line settings?
Its really irritating that I have to remove the marker and change the line format each time I load up some data.

I am using the beta version, but I am not sure if it is the reason why it keeps the settings. Prepare an empty template with all the configuration you would like to use save it as deafault from the Axes part. Then save this to your computer with a created line with your own specifications. I use 1 for the circular point and 3 for the line, they give a representable line. I ampositng this as a fast answer, I am not the expert.
This worked for me. I hope it will work for you too.

I am not sure I understand the question correctly. When you insert a new point series, Graph should suggest the same settings for marker and line as you used the last time.
