graph doesn't return both the positive and negative roots of x
or have i done it wrong??
can this be rectified in future versions??

Your calculator will probably also only return one result for this. For a standard function, one x-value has at most one y-value.
If you want to plot the part in the 4th quadrant, you can instead plot it as an equation. Use Function|Insert relation and enter the relation as y^2=x
