As the image seems to be correctly inserted into Word, the problem with conversion to pdf seems to be with Word. It does look strange though. But I am afraid there is nothing I can do about it.

By the way it only seems to be a problem with the builtin pdf converter. It works if you use a pdf printer driver instead.

In my original post I did not illustrate the problem. Now I attach two files: Word 10 file that includes two graph objects. The objects are identical except that the first object includes legend while I deleted it from the second object.
The second file is pdf file that was obtained by conversion of the original

There is legend (function description) that appears automatically with a function graph. If this legend is not deleted (by myself) then
when a document is converted to pdf a graph picture disappears and only legend is seen
